South Africa Take Home The 66th Miss Universe Crown
The 66th Miss Universe pageant was held on November 26th, 2017 in Las Vegas, USA. 92 delegates participated in this edition. Demi Leigh Nel Peters from South Africa take home the crown from Iris Mittenaere of France. Demi Leigh Nel Peters become the second woman from South Africa to win Miss Universe title after winning the event in 1978 by Margaret Gardiner. Demi Leigh will travel around the world alongside Miss Universe Organization for charity event and many other activities for a year.
Demi Leigh Nel Peters recently earned her degree in Business Management at North West University after making history at her high school for holding two leadership positions. The first runner up was Colombia (Laura Gonzalez Ospina). Colombia did a great job in 4 years in a row made it into the Final 3. The second runner up went to Jamaica (Davina Bennett).
Top 5 was completed by Thailand (Maria Lynn Poonlertlarp) and Venezuela (Keysi Sayago).
Top 10 was delegates from Brazil (Monalysa Alcantara), Canada (Lauren Howe), Philippines (Rachel Marie Peters), Spain (Sofia del Prado), and USA (Kara McCullough).
Top 16 was completed by delegates from China (Roxette Qiu), Croatia (Shanaelle Petty), Ghana (Ruth Quashie), Great Britain (Anna Maria Burdzy), Ireland (Cailin Aine Ni Toibin), and Sri Lanka (Christina Peiris)
Best National Costume was Japan (Momoko Abe) and Panama (Laura de Sanctis) titled as Miss Congeniality

but shit for the Top 16 format (per continent). Sooo sad for Mexico, Indonesia, France and Peru. They should be at least enter Top 16.
